Question Question about water changes

My 55g tank has been running for over a month now--with some nice live rock since day one. Two clowns have been in there four about 3 weeks and I just added two cleaner shimp last week. There are a few snails and hermits mowing down the algae and alot of critters living in the rocks.

My question is, if all my readings are perfect, should I still do water changes every month? Or just leave it alone? The amonia, nitrites, and nitrates never moved, they are all at 0. I need to clean the skimmer once a week since it fills with nasty junk, but other than that the water is perfect--except for alot of algae, which is starting to come under control.

Thanks in advance.

I would continually do water changes a month, and thikn about doing water changes bi-monthly. Water changes will replenish the elements that exist in saltwater to correct ratios. Skimming will also take out trace elements, and new water will replace these.

Also, if you were your fish , wouldn't you want a clean environment

Just to add to this string. I was wondering. I have a slight Nitrate problem. 10 ppm (down from 20) before my last water change 2 days ago of about 25 gallons on a 72 gallon tank. This was the first change with my RO/DI water. Cut the Nitrates in half. Would it be ok to continue to do about 5 gallons water changes every other day for 3 or 4 more changes to help. Would this be ok?
