coral sand ever settle?

i just setup a new fowlr and found very cheap coral sand at home depot. its been in there about a month already and i have already began stocking the tank. every movement in the tank clowds the water. especially when my wrasse burries itself at night it takes half the day to clear. is this going to go on forever or will the fine particles get filtered out eventually?

It should settle down eventually but one month seems like it should be long enough. I have aragonite sand in my tank that comes from the Bahamas. It's sold under the brand names Southdown, Yardright and Oldcastle over here.

I'm sure your sand must be from a local source. Is it coral based or halimeda based? Doesn't make much difference but I just figured that it may be halimeda based considering where you live. What's the brand name that it's being sold under over there?

Would you say that it was very fine particle size, sugar sized or larger than sugar sized? Shouldn't really matter, it should settle down once it gets a nice biofilm coating the grains. My tank was very cloudy for the first 7 or 8 days but then it settled down and cleared up. It got a little cloudy whenever I moved something during the first one or two after that but it stopped doing that within a matter of three weeks or thereabouts.

Hey,

you're not alone, my tank still does that too. I am trying to be patient and wait it out. If it continues that way to long, going to swap it for some other sand and just be done with it. Might get a friend that scubas to get me some from around a wreck he dives around lobster hunting. Any thoughts on that, the sand?
