Unhappy Mysterious Deaths

I woke up this morning and found both my clown tang and mandarin dragonet dead. I was quite upset and baffled. Both were moving around normally and neither showed signs of disease. All of my readings were normal, except the nitrates which were just slightly elevated. The only change that I made to the tank in the past 24hrs was the cleaning of the filter and skimmer, but didn't use any chemicals/soap. I performed a partial water change as a precautionary measure, but have no idea what happened. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Hmmm.... What else do you have in your tank? Fish, inverts, macro algae etc....... What type of filter do you have? Do you have power heads in the tank? If so what brand? Rio's have been known to fail and kill tank inhabitants. Some more info might help us narrow it down.....

Unhappy tank

i have a bicolor and flame angel two clowns and a damsel. I have a long spine sea urchin, cleaner shrimp, and a blue linkia starfish. Everyone else is acting normal (swimming and eating). I habe read stuff about mantis shrimp causing weird deaths and disappearances...could this be the cause? or am I just a hypochondriac. Thanks for anyone's help
