ID some mini-snails and stars
I've got a 55-gallon fish only (with some muchrooms and zooanthids for good measure). Since the fall I've noticed some very small snails and starfish. The snails are no more than and a centimeter across, and are mostly white with brown stripes. There are a lot of them. The stars are also white, no larger than a dime, and have 3-7 legs. There are a fair number of these as well. I didn't purchase them, so they must have stowed away on some live rock. Does anyone know what these specied might be? Has anyone ever encountered this before, and are they predatory on anything? (All my mushrooms and zooanthids are doing well)

First welcome to RL!  You're correct, both the snails and the starfish came from your live rock. I am not sure what species they are but I do know that they are not harmfull to your inhabitants. As your tank ages you will notice a decline in their population as they become balanced with the food supply in your mini ecosystem. vbmenu_register("postmenu_106564", true);

Thanks! I was worried they might aggravate things if they got out of control, but they are a good supplement to the larger algae eaters.

Those links certainly did help! I indentified them as snails from the family Turbinidae, Genus Collonista, and stars from the family Asterinidae. Cool! Thank you!
