Blue/Green Chromis sick!!!

I came home today to a sick fish. He is only half blue/green and half dark brown. I tested my water and everything came out ok except that the ph was at 7.8. I added some baking soda to raise that a little. He is swimming very erratic. Sometimes he swims upside down and he can barely keep himself off of the bottom. I have a foxface in the tank. Is it possible that he got too close or is that not likely. I don't know if I should take him out now or wait to see if he gets better. He looks pretty far gone though. Everybody else seems to be doing fine.

I have never heard of that type of problem before. It is quite possible the Foxface got him. Do you have a quarantine tank you can put him in?

No, I don't have a quarantine tank. All I have is a refugium to put him in. I don't think I would be able to chase him down in my 125 gallon tank even with him being in the state he is in anyway.

when i buy chromis.. i always buy alot more than i will need....

this last time around i bought 7 for my 50 gallon tank... only 4 made it...

my tank is set up real good...stable and have very good success with fish.. but in my opinion... chromis just die.. well all things die, but chromis just quicker than most...

I find that suprising since I always thought that chromis were very hardy. My sick chromis was barely staying afloat and would just go into a corner. The next morning he was gone. I mean literally. I could not even find a scale. It was weird that he had that brown stripe right through the middle of his body. I lost one in my overflow for a week a while back and he rebounded fairly well.
