Question Newbie question

I have just added live rock (only about 22.5 lbs as I will have fish and invertebrates) to my 46 gallon bow front and noticed the salinity has gone down .001 (from 1.024 to 1.023). I don't think this is a big deal (might be beacause of all the water change and smal amount of new tap that came in with rinsed aragonite), but I realized that I do not know how to raise the salinity properly if itkeeps going for some reason. Do I add salt straight to the tank even if I have living organisms in it .... or do I add aged saltwater with a higher salinity to increase overrall salinity ... or something I haven't even thought of?

Thanks,
Nikki

Do not add dry salt to your tank. Try using salt water as top off instead of fresh water until it comes back up. I suggest letting the saltwater sit for 24 hours before introducing it into your tank.

You want to do it slowly, a little bit at a time.

You are right, it probably dropped because of the frsh water that was added. To raise the SG, the next time you do a small water change, just mix up a batch of 1.026. I had the same problem and I mixed mine at about 1.028 for about 5 water changes, and it corrected the problem. With the volume of water in your tank, you should be able to raise it with just a couple of 5-10 gallon changes. HTH
