I am a newb but have read a lot since I posted "Can't he just used crushed coral." I figured sand is the best way to maintain and cultivate bacteria colonies and is also beneficial, to crustaceans, crabs, snails and gobies.

i ended up removing the UG filter, i got tired of so many No no's i just got rid of it and purchased a Marineland, Penguin 350 penguin Bio wheel, now i dont want to hear any more stuff on this filter, it should be good right?

My cycle is on its way now the Ph level is where it should be , nitrate is 0.5 nitrite is 0.. and there is a lil tester guy a blue damsel as a testing fish, he survived over night

what should i set my theremoter heater to?
70-80 range

thanks

The bio-wheel isn't bad but not needed, if not actively cleaned it could also contribute to problems with excess nitrates. All you really need is a good skimmer, good liverock, good flow and a way to export excess nutrients.

For the temp, I like 80.

i will take care of the bio wheel, and make sure the nitrates dont get out of hand.

It can be done, people do manage to keep other fish with Damsels, it just depends on how aggressive your particluar damsel is. Most of the time they are too aggressive for other fish to be kept with them, especially timid fish.

Its called New Life Spectrum. Its one of the most highly recommended foods for salt and freshwater. But is most effective in the saltwater world.
