Post Diatom Blooms

Tank finished cycling about a week ago. Now diatoms are growing all over the LR and CC. I know this is normal for a new tank, but should I be doing anything special, besides vaccuuming the CC when I do water changes? Do I just wait it out?

Pretty much just wait it out, if you want you can throw some crabs or snails in there to help with the LR, otherwise, it'll pass as the tank gets more established.

Thanks for your response. That's what I figured.

when I moved my tank a mounth ago to a new upgrade I went through a diatom blow that lasted 2 weeks then diappered and all is clear for now till some thing else starts anyway.
Just add snails and a few scarlet hermits which will help with diatoms now and other algeas latter on.

Hey penguin, first of all, patience is the most important thing here. Your cycle officially ends when the brown stuff (diatoms) is replaced by green algae. If you've ever thought about the idea of replacing your cc with sand, now's the time to do it. Get a good clean-up crew and enjoy. Best of luck.
