Yes those would be the type of livefood that a Mandarin Dragonette would eat however a single fish can quickly wipe out the live food population except in tanks that have a very large amount of liverock and plenty of places for the 'pods to reproduce.

Most people recommend a 75 gallon tank or larger for one Manderin Dragonette. However, I believe if you buy a large hang on the back refugium to house plants and pods away from their preditor you should be ok. Just be sure to add the refugium first and allow it to populate the pods before you add the Drogonette. I would say a few months....

No, not all fish will eat pods. What Greg said was that most people recommend a 75 gallon stocked with rock and a refugium for a Mandarin but he feels like you'll be fine with one down the road as long as you have a refugium.

Yup.
And the refugium gives them a place to flourish without being preyed upon in the display. |

I would agree about the 75 or bigger with a bit of live rock, i got my manderine about 3 months ago and he was skinny when i got him(lfs said he was eating frozen) stupid stupid stupid......... Anyways he is doing awesome, he's fat and happy and he even shares a tank with the watchman gobe/orange spotted goby(same thing) and they both have tons of food, plus i make my own live rock just so i can add peices here and there for more breeding ground for the little bugs...... Pods..... Whatever..... IF you want to make your own live rock e-mail me and i will explain or i can fax you instructions... EASY PEEZY

I've noticed that if you want a lot of pods in your tank, hair algae can actually be your friend.... they seem to reproduce like mad in that stuff.

Yes that is true, we had caulerpa algea covered in hair algea in our 75 and we took it out and stuck it in a 5 hex with a little filter and a heater and light and is now currently a pod farm plus many more critters.....
