Do i need my protein skimmer??

i have a 55 gallon tank with 75 lbs of live rock and a flower pot corral and some other neon green grass that comes from the coraline.

I have no sump , but i will be planing on setting one up by next year .

I ask this because it seems to have a lil too much micro bubbles and i dont like them per say , the only advantage that i have is that its is getting aereated pretty good,

My filtration is
penguin 350 bio wheel filter
1 - 170 gph power head
1- 210 gph filter power head
1- protein skimmer good for up to 75 gallons

Do i really still need the protein skimmer, or should i added when i start adding more corrals.?

thanks!!

You should keep the protein skimmer running for sure. This is the most effective way to remove dissolved organic material.

You mention "neon green grass" and this concerns me...

actually it is a Star polyp...sorry:slap:

i guess i should keep it , its just that im afraid of GBD (gas bubble disease)

this is why i need a sump or refugium , are those the same.

and how exactly do i aereate the saltwater tank, what method do people use to aereate saltwater tanks.

Tanks with skimmers get plenty of oxygen input.

A sump and a refugium are two separate things, although often times people combine them. A sump is just a vessel under the tank that allows water to drain from the display and then return back. People often place their heaters, skimmers, probes, etc. in the sump to keep them out of the display. A refugium is a vessell that provides a safe place to grow livestock that would otherwise be preyed upon in the display. Pods, macro algae, etc.
