Wait for a Cycle? Not me.

no just kidding , i recently crashed my 55 gallon tank by using formalin and malachite green, and instead of fighting with water conditions i am going to start all over with this

http://www.marineland.com/products/m...L_biospira.asp

and add all my fish again in 2-3 days.

that includes

my valentini puffer
my lawnmower blenny
my foxface
my small yellow tang
my yellowtail damsel
my pipefish
my horsefish
my small ocellaris clownfish
my blue devil damsel

this might turn into a debate but i will follow with updates, this thin suppsedly is a cycle over night that will not have ammonia spike.:slap:

but im going to try it.

Nothing happens in a saltwater aquarium fast. By trying to rush back into this you are going to cause yourself problems. There is no better cycle than doing it the old fashion way. Setup a tank and once the temperature, salinity and pH is correct, add liverock and wait it out.

true.

but we can replicate nature to fit nature into our homes , hence mini oceans into our homes, hence fake sea salt.

DOn't forget this part:

BIO-SPIRA FEATURES
  • Prevents New Tank Syndrome Introduce fish safely within 24 hours, not weeks. Prevents ammonia and nitrite toxicity in freshwater aquariums during the initial critical period.
I am glad SOMEONE has money to burn!

well i changed my substrate to finer granite , instead of keeping my rockgravel with crushed corral, thanks to Scott .

i started everyting all over again and i put the fish in about 3-4 hrs the temp was good to go.i used to heaters.

i put in a

yellow tang
foxface
valentini puffer
lawnmower blenny
yellowtail damsel
small ocellaris clown

a lil ammo spike but when back to normal, and theyre doing great.

Well I hope everyhthing goes well....It would be a shame to kill those fish (that can live well over a decade or two) just becuase your are impatient.... What about the long term effects the additives could have on the fish and rest of your mini biotope? People spend large amounts of money for RO/DI units to keep unwanted particals out of the water column. So why go spend money just to dump unknown elements back in? Many of those additvies are not proven and many are scams all together.....I don't mean to sound harsh but I just don't understand the mentality. Could you please explain....

I am impatient and i know that, and i wont deny it. About the long term effects i am not worried about it , because i doubt it will have long term effects with water changes , i just put fishes lives in the hand of these crazy aquarist, i did do however some research and found good results, and i decided to buy it because i found a lot of people having success with this product. The long term effects youre right , i could have a long term effect. who knows This is my mentality, i know that now and days theres such good results from developing and researching and replicating nature, that i do believe they have found the right answers to the questions, basically a cycle less equation...I dont know but i do like to find the easy way sometimes when there is enought support to backup theyre results.. so thats why i tried it... all my fish are doing great.:slap:

i just hope ugly doesnt rear its ugly face on me..

if it does i will be there ......waiting..........

There's nothing to debate. It's an unnecessary waste of money but you would have known that if you did a search on this board. This is not a new topic. It has been discussed previously.

Yes.

I just ran a search using "bio-spira" to see which threads I personally posted to on this particular product and came up with the following:

For us Beginners (Please give us advise)

How many fish can you stick in a 12-gal aquarium?
