Ok...I'll try here.....recently added a very nice healthy pygmy angel(lfs's only id)(it is a pygmy....I'm sure of it)......every place I've checked says its a cherub.......and it appears to be close.....but with the following differences
1) body is much darker(blackish/purpleish) 2)red on head is mainly only on lower part of head 3) reddish circles around eyes 4) brillant metalic blue streak along lower body (edge of fins) 5) tail is yellowish can any one help id this guy or provide a pic thats close......I just want to id it....gr8 addition sorry I'm not set up to post pics or I would |

Hi NMReef, welcome to Reefland!
Is this a very young juvenile or a more mature specimen? I can't find anything that matches your description exactly. The yellow tail would seem to point to Centropyge acanthops instead of C. argi, but the rest of your description throws me. You say the coloration on the head is red instead of the usual yellowish-orange of C. argi, and you talk about red circles around the eyes instead of blue. Maybe it is C. argi but without full adult coloration yet. Ninong ------------------ Irrational Exuberance! |
