Question Water Change Poll

Water changes are an essential part of good husbandry. How often, and how much water do you replace?

Started doing 2 changes a week in December. This was because of a cyano problem that I have been battling. In doing this, my corals have decided to really start going to town on the growing end of things. I think I'll keep it up. I'll be going thru salt like you know what thru a goose, but I love the growth.

20 gallons twice a week

Thanks, Scott!

I wish we could do that on election day when we don't like any of the candidates!

When I was fighting hair algae, I did a 20-30% change once a week, but I am happy to say that the last tuft of Bryopsis succumbed yesterday, and I've been doing a 10% change every week to 10 ten days for about six weeks now, like I used to do.

I use to do 10% weekly but because I was getting a dKH of 14 from the salt mix and my chemistry was off I got fed up with the salts and their inadequacies and stopped doing W/C's alltogether and just go with a wet skimmate .

Once a month here at 20%. If I notice an increase in algae I will do an additional 20% at 2 weeks.

Once A month

Once a month at about 40% as ive read opinions that it can be viewed as more efficient/beneficial to do large monthly changes where more nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, etc. are removed than with multiple small changes. any opinions on this?

OK, I can't change my vote, but I'm changing my practice. Since I got a better protein skimmer and an ozonizer, I didn't change 20% at my regular 2 week period... I'm waiting for a month... so far, it's 3 weeks and all looks well <knocking wood>.

I do a 10% water change every week. I find that if I keep at it every week I will keep on top of it. If I wait to do it every other week I tend to put it off!
