Bag of live sand burst

I received a bag of live sand from marine depot on friday. When it came to the door, the box was soaking wet and the bag had burst in transit. My question is, I have not put it in the tank yet since I am still waiting on my rock. Does anyone know if the sand will still be 'live' since it is no longer in it's water? It is still a little damp, but not squishy like it should be. Should I call marine depot for another bag? I do have a second bag of live sand and a bag of dry to mix together....

Your "live sand" will be just fine. The only thing that makes it "live" is the bacterial colonies, since it is highly unlikely that anything larger survived transit and storage for any period of time. In time, the survivng bacterial colonies will grow and colonize the sand, and your other bag of "live sand" will speed the process along.

It should be fine, not to worry it sounds like this is a new set-up anyway. Your sand will become live, and the live rock will help in the process. Best of luck to you.
