new tank help
We set up our tank yesterday. Everything seems to being going good. the fish store said to come in today and get damsels which we did.she said it was ok to get six, we have a 55 gal tank. 2 domino , 2 striped, and 2 blues. We would like to put a dog faced puffer, and a tang, and some other things into the tank once it is ready, is this going to be possible or does anyone have any suggestions as to what we should put in? THanks

I would probably waite a week to put the damsels in . you have to make sure the heater/all equipment is working good and gonna have a stable temp. How did you mix the salt water? Did you dump the salt right in the tank or did you pre mix it in another container? What is the salinity of the tank? Like I said I would waite at least a week to add the damsels. The pet store didnnt tell you that the fish have a good chance of dieing, there fore you are waisting your $ PLease give a little more info on your tank. Temp? salinity?

I don't advocate cycling a tank with damsels. IMO its just down right inhumane. It is not your fault however, the LFSs are always looking to make a $. The tank can be cycled without this senseless killing, Life rock, sand , ect. Heck if you want you can even throw a dead shrimp in there to get things going. I would recommend taking things slow, your tank must go thru the cycling process first, before adding livestock. What are your water Pars, and how long has this tank been setup?
