New 75 Gallon
This Is My 1st Saltwater Aquarium. I'm Doing A Fish Only Set Up. I Have Crushed Coral Substrate And Everything Else Is Artifical (rocks, Coral, Plants, Driftwood). Right Now I Have 3 Yellowtail Damsel's To Cycle The Tank. They Are Doing Fine After Being In The Tank For About 2 Weeks Now. I'm Going To Be Putting A Lion Fish, A Tang, And Maybe A Puffer In After The Cycling Period. My Set Up Is As Follows Filters Emperor 400, Fluval 404 Canister, Seaclone Skimmer (that Is Working), 300 Watt Heater. Is There Anything Else That I Need??? I've Been Doing Alot Of Reading On The Set Up I Just Want To Make Sure That I'm Not Missing Anything Important!!!

Hi ODDBALL361,
![]() I will stress the important of liverock. This is the key to your biological filtration and should be included. |

Live Rock
Seeing That Live Rock Is On The Expensive Side. Is It Possible To Add A Little At A Time. I Understand That It Should Be 1 Pound Of Rock Per Gallon.

I would dump the canister filter and go with the live rock. Canister filters must constantly be cleaned, and can be a pain in the _ _ _ . You can add the live rock slowly, but just make sure it is completely cured first. This can be accomplished in a seperate container (like Rubbermaid tub). You might want to add a powerhead or two for some circulation in your tank. Most importantly keep on reading, you can never learn enough in this hobby.

I would also dump the crushed coral, For FOWLR it is ok( Maybe) holds a lto do bad stuff, but take it from experience. you will get the reef bug and then it really needs to go.

Yup, agree with all of the above. I will again say that the rock can be added slowly as long as it is cured. And not "cured" as you would see at online retailers.
