Aside from being unsightly, is nuisance algae bad?
I have a fish only tank and have some ugly nuisance algae in my tank but I have to be honest, my nitrates are at 0 for the first time in a while. Obviously, I'd rather get the nitrates to 0 by other means but is the algae going to harm the fish in any way?

Generally no, but some algaes (mostly reds and browns) do release noxious chemicals.
