butterfly, clownfish

hey everyone I recently got a shipment from california of live fish and the package came a day late for next day air. The butterfly came down with a severe case of ick and seems to have internal bleeding and I think it gave it to my clownfish. now they both have ick. the package that arrived late was sent by ups - which I probably will never use again. I like fed-ex.

it was my fault they all looked dead when I got the package so I just acclimated them for 25 minutes and threw them into the tank.

do you guys think they will make it? is there anything I can do? what about the internal bleeding will that go away my tear-drop butterfly was so pretty when I got him.

hello everyone

well my butterfly didn't make it, I am treating the clown in a hospital tank right now I will let you know how it goes but the clown has not ate since I bought him last sat the 18th. I am treating maroxy, coppersafe and maracyn-two with my mandarin who also got infected. looks like the clown wants to eat but refuses I will see what I can try.

jckjohn,

I've had similar results in ordering via mail. Where did you order from?

fish order

I ordered from marine depot live - I have to say though their customer service to me was top notch, they are replacing 2 dead fish and 1 sick fish plus the shipping charge. The box was damaged the corner was smashed and the delivery was a day late as I have said but the customer service was great.

The clown is looking better every day I just need to get him to eat and he will be great in my 75 fish only tank.

Good news about the clown, mine looks the same as when she arrived. I recieved a mated pair of perculas on Tuesday from Marine Depot, both barely clinging to life and died during the acclimation. Replacements arrived on Thrusday, the male dead and the female a little worse for wear. I'll give it one more try when the weather is a little warmer.

I do agree though, Marine Depot's CS was very good. The fish though nearly dead, looked very nice otherwise. A year ago I had a similar problem with Premium Aquatics, they too were very good in dealing with the problems. Marine Depot claims to have a 98% success rate. I'm not so sure.

travelling

you know what it is the excitement of getting a fish from the west coast flown in to the east coast.

seriously though all mine looked gone when I got the package they all might have made it if I acclimated them for like an hour and added my aquarium water to the bag every 15 mins or so this I will do from now on no matter what. I will also put them in a hospital tank before introducing them to my main tank. We all learn from our experiences.

I am treating my clown with coppersafe, maracyn, and maracyn-two now - I really want this fish to make it. I am calling the company (virbac) to find out if they have ever combined meds on a fish. It has symptoms of these three meds so I will try to see what happens. I will have to wait until monday. I will let you know.

how does your clown look?

She hovers near the surface most of the time, not quite uprite either. At night she floats almost on her side at the top of the tank. She's in a small Q-tank right now and will be for atleast 6 weeks, if she makes it. And yes I know the excitement!!! My bad experiences were just last week. And again, kudos to Marine Depot for taking responsibility...

common clownfish

You know what I had a clownfish (maroon) that did the same thing I thought it was a swim bladder disease but my water was off. I did a water change and the clown was fine. Not sure if your clown has swim bladder disease or your water is off but worth checking.

Marine Depot Live is giving me store credit for my sick fish, but I still want to make sure he makes it. I am placing another order with Marine Depot Live very soon. My local pet store doesn't give a guarantee on fish, Marine Depot Live does even though they are on the west coast I still like them better.

Good to hear that MDL is taking care of you. I would agree that they are a reputable place.
