Question Live Rock????

I have 20lbs of rock in my FOWLR tank. I have been curious lately. I have waited acouple of hours after light is off and went back with a flash light to see if I have got any critters living in my live rock. To my suprise I have seen little critters (all the same). They are almost clear in color, small black stripe down their back, and are only a couple of centimeters and smaller not worm like. They crawl back into the rock very fast so I don't have a chance to get a REAL good look. I have did some internet searching. I don't believe they are not a Mantis Shrimp. Don't mantis's have big black eyes? Could you help me in i.d. Thanks

Also why does my Yellow tank get a brown color on his side at night? After the light is back on his color all comes back.

1. Amphipods/Copepods.
2. A natural coloration change at night or when in a defensive mode. Nothing to worry about. Our Blue Hippo Tang turns very pale at night.

Are the Amphipods/Copepodes something to worry about?

They're a good thing
If anything, fish food. They also eat the detritus on the bottom of your tank.

No worry at all! In fact, they are considered desirable. There are some pricey "starter kits" available for amphipods and copepods to get them started and breeding in a tank.

Hmmm... now that the tank is full, I could convert the pool to saltwater...
