A sad day today when my son and I came home from work. I have two sets of tanks setup with False perc pairs. These were 4 juveniles purchased back around Christmas and I had them in two tanks trying to see if they pair up. One of the sets had paired and unfortunately to my dismay when I got home from work today, one of those pair took a leap of no return. It was very upsetting for my son as he had taken this on as a personal project of his own. But, the question I have is I had never been told that I should be careful of these as they are known to jump. I know I could have prevented this with a cover, but as always hindsight is 20/20 here. Is this unheard of? Could the pair have been fighting? Could the female (she has obviously grown larger and more agressive) have chased her mate out? If I replace this one, I do not want to make the same mistake again.

Thanks
Rich
