HLLE... Head and lateral line erosion. Thought to be a vitamin deficiency. Do a web search on HLLE and you'll find more info than you ever wanted to know about it. The good news is that it is reversible most of the time. Good luck.

Hmmm... now that the tank is full, I could convert the pool to saltwater...

HLLE is a condition caused by nutritional deficiencies. It indicates a lack of appropriate diet. All tangs require daily feedings of macroalgae based foods. That's their natural diet. They require this to maintain health.
Make sure you are feeding algae every day. Seaweed Selects is a good product. I use it for my Foxface Rabbitfish. Also, several hobbyists have reported good results feeding broccoli to tangs with HLLE. Freeze the broccoli first to break down the fibers or blanch it in boiling water for about 30 seconds first, one or the other. You could also pre-soak the food in several drops of Selcon (a vitamin supplement) for about 15 minutes before feeding it.
Good nutrition can reverse HLLE.
P.S. -- Lettuce is not a good food for tangs. Seaweed is a much better choice.

Thanks alot... I'm going to remove the carbon and try new food
I did make a big mistake a few month ago when i added copper to water but it's all gone now. I did add more snails in the last couple of weeks so my algae in tank is down and i just removed this crazy red night crab that was going through the algae like wild fire.
AND ONCE MORE YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST (((THANKS ALOT)))
I am glad you enjoyed it.
