Pouch Evacuation 101

Pouch Evacuation
Definition: To restrain and torment a seahorse for the express purpose of releasing excessive gas in its pouch.

Question: How many people does it require to do a pouch evacuation?

Answer: 4.

Two teenagers, one seven year old, and one rookie seahorse keeper with a bad case of the shakes.

One teenager to hold the seahorse, one to shout out "helpful" instructions and tell remaining teenager on the side to shut up, one seven year old to retrieve flashlight and glasses, and one Mom with a bobby-pin (Natch, the pouch massage failed to release bubbles).

Happy to report seahorse is swimming much better (although glaring at the lot of us), and I am now going to drink my lunch.

Glad everything came out OK.

*sigh* I'm sure that's next.

(Who is still incredibly freaked out about the whole "stick a bobby pin in an
unfortunate sea creature's orifice" thing.)

Thanks guys for the encouraging words!

Not too much to report on the Seahorse front, except more glaring… this time from my husband.

When I suggested we might need another small tank for quarantine purposes, my husband responded with “Why? We already have three toilets.”

Droll. Very droll.

Anyway, I was inspired to head to the bathroom for useful items… Who knew that a spouse’s brand new toothbrush could be so useful in scrubbing cyano from a leather?
