Salt water into clothes (out again?)

Hi. I got some salt water on a few of my shirts. The shirts went throught the wash, and the salt stains are still there. It sort of looks like a bleaching. Can I still get this stains out? Will salt water stain all dark clothes?

I would try using a white vinegar and water solution of equal proportions, work it in with a brush or a natural sponge, one with out dyes, rinse it out and rewash. Or "rewursh" depending on where you are from.

stains

Hey. Would you soak the entire shirt in a bucket, or would you just pour the vinegar/water on the the stain?

Well just to be safe you should try a very small amount in a very inconspicuous area that will not be seen. If it does not hurt the shirt you could treat the whole thing.

Hey. Well, what I did was to put one shirt into a ziplock bag filled mostly with club soda. The other shirt I put into a zip lock bag filled with half vinegar, and half water. The stains did not come out. I hung dry the shirts to prevent heat seating the stains any more. Anyway it did not work. Maybe I did not soak the shirts long enough. I might try it again. Maybe a club soda soak for 48 hours in a ziplock bag might work.

Remember your chemistry. Salt water is very similar to chlorine bleach.

I try to wear my "aquarium" clothes or usually go shirtless when working around with the water. I hate having wet sleaves.

Thanks. I have had wet sleeves for 6 years as I had up to 35 fresh water tanks running. No problems with clothing getting ruined.

Depends on the type/size... anywhere from 3.95 a pound to 12.95 a pound in this neck of the woods. Average is about 6.95. The cheapest here is for Haitian and Brazilian. More expensive is the large pieces of Pacific (Fiji/Marshall Island/Tonga) rocks.

Look for a local club. We have one here and I can get really superb, well seasoned rock for as low as $2.
