Fail Again!

Got a Coral Beauty died in March during the quarantine period. Bought a Banggai Cardinal on Thursday. Acclimated for an hour+ using the display tank water and th HOB filter. No eating or feeding since then. Changed 1/4 water this morning. Returned from work this afternoon and found her lying flat on the bottom. Tested the water and tried to find out why the HAGEN kits. PH & Ammonia= OK, but the NO3 was skyhigh! Tested the NO3 with the display tank water so as to confirm the accurracy of the test kits. Result was correct. Very very light or unnoticeable pink color.
May I have your experts on the cause of death? Have I missed something with the "Quarantine" procedure?

Best wishs,

Jimmy WONG

It was 1.020 and temp: between 25C-27C. May be in future I'll put a blue damsel that's been living in my sump for year+ in the Q-tank for building up some sort of good bacteria before the arrival of th new guy(s). Do you think it works?

So, my HOB filter is NOT fully functional and biologically cycled yet. Should I put it in the sump for a whole month before using it ?

What was the specific gravity of the water that the fish came from? In the US, most keep their Specific Gravity much higher; usually around 1.025.

Thanks Scott. I just don't know. But I heard that these little guys would be doing much better in the low SG. Going back to the Q-tank. Should I use the display tank water or to prepare the fresh salt-mixed with the biologically cycled HOB filter. If this is not the way to do it, may I have your experts, please? Have no success in keeping fish in the Q-tank since DEC last year!

Best regards,
