Q-tank water

In setting up the Q-tank, do you fill it with water from your display tank OR those newly mixed? Awaiting your experts please.

Best Regards,

Using "new" water should work just fine.

I do 50/50 but I sure that just made it more confussing. lol. I do 50/50 because it's less of a change from the Q tank to the display.

Any water should work - best mixed to the same SG and temp as your display tank. Mature water from the tank is handy if you can spare it - depends on the size of your QT; perhaps you could fill it in advance at a water change? The only problem of using mature water is that it might be high in nitrate.

Thanks everybody. I think I'll stick to the new water.

I also did the 50/50 mix so it would be close to the same or the same as my display.
