Blue Spotted Grouper itching
My new blue Spotted Grouper is onstanly scratching himself on the glass, and the rocks. I do not think he has Ich as I do not see any. Might this be very normal behavior for a Blue Spotted Grouper added to a new tenk. No other tankmates are scratching. he is 4" long, and I just bought him.

May i suggest garlic additive to their frozen food, use Kentmarine garlic like this one
http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewIt...product=KM3631 it sounds as if he has some parasites on him and maybe spread out to others, id suggest feeding them with garlic asap. |

Thanks. The seller told me that this might be normal with a new fish. He said to watch the fish for a few days to see if the itching stops. He said if it does not stop then to give him a freshwater dip, and quarantine him. J

It's best to QT before having problems in the main tank, rather then ricking infecting the others. So I've learned. I have a $36 in my QT tank set-up.
$10 - 10 gallon glass $14 - Aqua Clear Filter 100 gallons an hour. $12 - Heater. Plus I don't think it's normal. I also problly wouldn't freshwater dip unless he starts to get bad. I would just QT him and watch, and med. him only if you have to. |

Hey. Also I might not be able to get the Garlic food until later tonight. I have not fed them yet today with frozen Mysis like I usually do. I was thinking I'd start them today on the Garlic food when I bring it home. Well, I might have to feed them some Mysis before I get the garlic food. Keeping fish on a schedule for feeding is important to their health. I know that from 15 years of keeping Cichlids. BTW Thank you for your suggestions.

I bought some garlic frozen food for my fish. Just last night my Grouper swallowed a chunk of it. When the Grouper was shipped to me there was a dead fish in the bag with him. I think that he threw it up. The LFS said that the reason for the scratching might be pH burn, or ammonia burn.
