Niger Triggers & Hermit Crabs
Anybody can take a stab at this post. I have put Hermit crabs in with my niger Triggerfish. The crabs are small (dime size), and two were eaten immediately. However two of the crabs foraging around the tank, and doing exactly what I want them to do, clean up!
I'm planning on buying some very large hermit crabs, but I do not expect success just because of their size. Anyway, I know there are people who have done this, and have had the crabs live, and I know people who have done it who have no crabs anymore. Basically your stories are welcome.

Mine loved anything in a shell. I had to take him back to the LFS.

Hermit crabs are one of the best foods for carnivores. I think hermit crabs were made for this purpose.
Feeding Marine Fish and Fish Nutrition Clean up? Try snails.

Because I am cheap, I grabbed some hermit crabs out of the gulf of mexico. One of them is about 3 inches in a good sized shell. I think they are possibly red legged hermit crabs. Anyway they have been great. Never mess with my fish and are constantly picking through the sand for food. I occasionally give them a small piece of food.

You could always put an adult alaskan king crab in there, the trigger would not bother him much.
Actually you should try some snails, I agree with leebca. (nassarius)
