White spots in tank

Does anyone know what the white spots could be that are on my overflows??? I figured some type of algae. The spots are almost hard, you have to really scrub or use your fingernail. I thought maybe barnacles, but they are about the size 5 grains of salt.

I took one with no flash and one with a flash. And one for the tang police.

Coraline algae or small feather duster would be my guess.

THE PLAGUE!

Not too worry. They are, as you noticed, small shelled crustaceans. Not worth your time and effort to identify. They are harmless in the general sense. Not particularly attractive.

When your tank matures they will likely decrease in numbers but not likely to ever go away.

Just remove them from the front (and sides) viewing area(s). After you do, they float around a bit and if near the front again, again take up residence there. So after a scraping, wait a few minutes and scrape the ones that got back on the viewing area(s).
