help with feeding my starfish?!?!?
hi everyone,
I recently picked up a fancy brittle starfish and its GORGEOUS, its just so cool how it moves, the people weren't very informative on what I need to feed it though, they just said krill, how do I feed the krill to it, and to I break off a big chunk from the frozen block of krill? and will it sink to the bottom? because I don't think that he can even go to the surface..lol...thanks for the help sincerely, -a starfish dummy -bubble |

I have several brittle and serpent stars in my tank. Although I had never actually fed them, they seemed to be doing fine on their own, scavenging, I guess. Out of curiousity, I bought some small shrimp from the grocery store.
I rinsed a piece in RO water, and cut it up very fine, and simply placed it in the tank next to the rock where most of them live. Some actually came out to get the shrimp, and some waited till a piece floated close enough and then snatched it. I would definately NOT offer any frozen food to your tank. Try thawing the food in tank water or RO water, and then strain the water from the food before putting it in the tank. This removes any extra phosphates, or other things that might affect your levels. Also, in the REEF forums, there are several threads that talk about feeding inverts. Good luck, and post a pic when you get a chance. I'm looking forward to what all my little guys will look like when they get bigger! ![]() |
