This is probably not a good choice for your tank since your tank is 30"x30" square. Check out what Robert Fenner has to say:
"The sixteen species of Naso ("Nay-zoh") Tangs share the traits of being open, active swimmers, and a propensity for getting BIG. Unless you have an absolutely huge reef system of hundreds of gallons, you’re strongly encouraged to only try the species of Surgeonfishes suggested previously. Here, we'll expand only on the five Naso species that are principally available in the hobby worldwide:" http://www.wetwebmedia.com/besttgsreefs.htm Ninong ------------------ "Thirdly, the explorationists are willing to only move equipment during the winter, which means they'll be on ice roads, and remove the equipment as the ice begins to melt, so that the fragile tundra is protected."—George W. well first of all, settle down, you would be very lucky if none of your fish ever get scared and freak once in a while, its good that your ordering that tang heaven but its not really neccasary, give him a few days to acclimate to your tank.

It can take these guys a few days to settle down. I'd say if he's doing it for much more than a week, then you may want to check for stray current in the tank if everything else is good. JAT

When I got a juvenile Yellow Tang for the 80gal he would pace back and forth behind the "rock wall." Every day he would peak out further around the ends and swim higher on the back glass. I put nori/caulerpra low and slowly moved it higher each day. After a week he calmed down and ate quickly. After three weeks, he's casually swimming around the tank nipping at my Nassarius snails. Only when stressed does he revert to hiding and pacing.

Organicreefer,
do you think my tangs pacing is because of the tank size?the tang is like 4 inches Could be. I have seen tangs do this, kind of like a lion at the zoo. Also, if it’s stools were clear and mucous, and it seems to be breathing fast when resting, you could also possibly be dealing with cyanide poisoning. BigLar,
Cyanide is used a “fishing” technique in certain fish collection areas such as some areas of the Philippines. The cyanide “stuns” the fish, making it easy to catch. Unfortunately, some fish are killed outright and even ones that seemingly recover often succumb, sometimes weeks later. Furthermore, the cyanide released into the water kills the surrounding coral heads, doing much, much damage to the reef itself...FWIW the cyanide tablets are manufactured and supplied to these "fishermen" by the SHELL OIL COMPANY I don't buy a fish unless I can be assured it was net caught.

Cyanide is bad. Sodium cyanide was and is still used in the Phillipines for the catching of exotic fish. When will this stop? I believe in naturally catching fish using hand nets or using a larger net to corner the fish and then using a hand net. Anything with chemicals is just bad for the fish, and the environment.
