New To Hobby

Hey Yall,

I have been keeping freshwater sucessfully since the age of 10. I am a Marine Biology Major at the University of Southern Mississippi and I just started a saltwater tank about 2 months ago. The tank is very small and I know this, but my space and funds are limited and this was the largest tank I with which I could afford the upkeep.

My two fish are doing fine exept for some aggression on the part of the dottyback when I first introduced the clown which has subsided now. What I want to know now is what invertabrates would thrive in a tank this small.

Thanks
Tim

Hi Tim,

Are you interested in sessile or non-sessile inverts? If coral, what type of lighting do you have?

Hi Tim!

You're a smidge beyond a reasonable bio-load limit for that 20. You can expect the aggression to be a form of emerging space stress: Stress (and the Single Marine Fish)

Corals will add little in the way of bio-load, but I would remove the hermit crabs and replace them with snails.

If you ever get into a position where you can start another, larger aquarium from scratch, this will give you some things to consider: Setting Up a FOWLR Aquarium

Welcome to the hobby. It's exciting and challenging. Have fun!

I have standard fluresent lighting. And i'm interested in sessil.

And the tank is a FOWLR. I'm just slowly building up the amount of live rock.
