Protien skimmer

hey all was thinking about adding a protien skimmer to my 20h. just curious if this is a waste of time or if it is a good idea i have been looking there seem to be a few designed for the smaller aquariums

It is definitely a good idea, in fact I would not run an aquarium of any size without one. For that tank size, there are a few options but I would look at the Bak-Pak or Prism.

To be more exact, try to go for Prizm Pro (in case you are going for a bigger tank later). I find Prizm basic version pretty useless in terms of the skimmate it produces. Seaclones are okay but eventually they do not handle well and requires frequent cleaning. Another option is go with airstone ones, they are cheap but quite effective for that size.

I have a fairly small 37 gallon tall tank, and I bought a Red sea Air Lift 60. It needs a separate air pump from which it is powered. It hangs inside the tank.

Remora makes a skimmer just for smaller tank like yours, and absolutely get a skimmer. I found out the difference it made and the fish are MUCH healthier and have a much better bloom than they did without one. I tried the prizm and it did ok but the Remora with the maxi jet power head blows it away and the nano remora is not to much more $$$$
