my whole tank is filled with rock from www.candybass.com it is all aquacultured and the rock goes through a long process to insure it is as pest free as possible. it was loaded with corraline. candybass is a hobbyist that sells lr on the side. i would also suggest some of his sls(superlivesand) it is loaded with critters. his rock is a bit more than some other places but the quality makes up for it...

I'm getting mine from www.premiumaquatics.com . It is not that expensive and has really good reviews. The only problem is that they only have basketball size pieces right now. I think the earliest shipping date for regular pieces is June 18. I dont know if you can wait that long (me either for that matter) but it is suposed to top notch rock.

i got my LR from www.exoticfish.com.

I got some of their Vanisi LR and from what have said that have gotten Vanisi - they love it - its different and after 2 months I am starting to get a lot of corralaine algae growing - blues and reds

Heres a pic...

HTH...

BTW - I had no nasties come crawling out when i did a high salinity dip nor have seen any since the rock has been in the tank.

Their customer service was great - jeff even answers the phone sometimes - high recommend from me...

Post opinions best cured LR

I'm almost ready to add my liverock and I was wondering who has the best CURED liverock on the net meaning good deal and no nasties. I'd apreciate all your opinions and suggestions I'll be needing about 50lbs. Thanks!

DDE,

I got my 90lbs of live rock for my 80 gallon from Flying Fish Express http://www.ffexpress.com .

I got 90lbs of Walt Smith Premium Fiji rock. This rock is covered with coralline, of greens, purples, pinks, etc.

Right now they have the same special when I bought mine - $99 for 45lbs. They now have a Na Pali or something rock, too. I haven't seen that rock, so I won't be able to tell you what the different between Walt Smith Premium Fiji and that rock.

However, both are $99 per 45lb box.

I was happy with my shipment and no nasties.

Regards,
Ilham

Maybe you guys dont understand. DEE wants CURED rock. The Vanisi from Jeffs and the stuff at FFE are NOT cured.

Well, I say that Premium aquatics or harbor aquatics are the best two live rock dealers on the net. At harbor aquatics you can even pick your own rock. But it is expensive. At PA you can save more money then other places but you might have to settle with a boulder until June 18th.

Its your call

Not exactly but there are "more cured" products. The rock from PA or HA is cured in their tanks for 2 weeks which means you save money by not doing massive water changes and getting minimal die-off. Uncured rock like the Vanisi or Fiji must cure in your tank=possible smell, possible die off, major water changes, high ammonia etc. So, there is cured rock but in shipping it may get some slight die off, just enough to start your cycle. Anyway DEE wants cured rock and the closest to it is HA or PA.

Thanks guys for all your suggestions!! Yes, the key was that I wanted it to be CURED (minimal die off). Actually I think I may try Paragonsales (I forgot all about them). Since they are located in CT maybe an hour away or so, I could probably pick it up myself. Thanks for all the help!

The best cured LR is from your LFS, just make sure they have cured it. If you try to get cured LR from an online dealer your going to have some die off during shipping. If you add cured rock that has been out of the water for a day or two your going to have some die off and ammonia spike. If you can get it from your LFS and its cured them YOU will be able to control how long its been out of the water......

Bluesman,

Are you positive they are bubble tips??

IF they are that's awesome!!
My shipment didn't come with any anemones that I can see as of yet. It has just finished cycling and curing.

Ilham

Yes they are in deed Bubble Anemones.I ordered 1 from Jeff's and it is almost the same size as the free ones that came on the rocks.I have them all in my 55g and the rock is in separate tanks curing. My Cinnamon Clowns just love going to each one and rubbing itself!Only 1 box of rock had all the Bubbles in it, the other box had none.So I guess it's a matter of luck( lucky for me my brother gave me 4 Bubbles off his box).I would love to try the Paragonsales rock but I'm at my limit,I have 150# for 1 55g and a pair of Petsmart 25g used tank that are side by side with a sump in the rear.BLUESMAN
