This food is good for carnivores and most omnivores.

If it is too big, it needs to be cut to sizes best desired by the fishes it is being fed to. If it contains shell/exoskeleton etc then for smaller fish it may pose intestinal blockage concerns. This does make a good part of a diet -- maybe about 15% of the feedings of omnivores and 35% for carnivores.

    cool thanks for the info
its quite small and my smallest fish, the clown can eat it whole.
The krill is freeze dried so im not sure if it contains shell/exoskeleton but i only feed it to them once every other day so hopefully things will be ok!.

hey leebca do you fancy posting some pics of you entire system?
it sounds impressive from your tank stats!!

    cheers james

    James,

I grew up with 'photo' issues. My father was a professional photographer (amongst other things) and we didn't get along. Working for him in his dark room put distance between me and any desire to take photos.

You probably wouldn't like photos of my tanks. FOWLR. They are functional rather than 'pieces of furniture.' Everything is for the fishes not for the humans.

Back to your krill. . .You didn't mention before it was freeze dried. If it is labeled for fresh water AND salt water fishes, then during the freeze drying process, the salt was removed from it. If there is salt in it, then it would not be a good food for freshwater fishes. If the salt was removed from it, then there is a high probability that during that 'extraction' process some of the other useful nutrients were removed. This then changes the answer to your question. If it is freeze dried AND labeled good for fresh water fish, then find another krill to use. Don't use this one for marine fishes. See below reference.

Check out feeding info (if you haven't already) at: Feeding Marine Fish and Fish Nutrition

    Good luck!
