Is this an angel fish?
We recently purchased a 90 gallon salt tank, complete with live rock and three fish. The purpose of this purchase was to enlarge our 55 gallon reef tank. I was going to try to keep the fish if I could rather than get rid of them. One is a blue tang (which I think I can keep), one is a coral beauty angel (which I think is going to have to go), and the third I can't seem to pinpoint. The people who sold us the tank had no idea what it was, it came with the tank when they bought it. Best I can find is a black / midnight angel, but this guy has a very distinct yellow triangle on each side of the top fin. He is VERY shy, so this picture is not of the best quality, but I am hoping that someone will recognize him.
Thanks! |

I cannot be helpful with your request for an id but...
The tang will be fine for a reef. You said it was a blue tang, can you be more specific? Is this a Hippo Tang or a Poweder Blue? For your Coral Beauty, this dwarf angel will be fine for your reef. Also, it appears from you picture you have some aiptasia anemone's growing, which you should erradicate as quickly as possible. If you are not familiar with these guys, so a search here at Reefland for aiptasia. |

Glad to hear that the blue hippo tang is a keeper.
Yes, the rocks that we got with the tank have several unwanted anemones on them, I currently have everything in a quarantine tank until I can get the rocks cleaned up. Thanks for the response! |

This is a picture of the Pale Spot Damsel (Dischistodus Chrysopoecilus) from the Indo Australian Archipelago. Eats algae, gets to about 5" in length. Keep an eye on this one - it may turn out to be a hooligan. Hope this helps.
