I some decisions here to make
Now I had another problem as some might know about and that is that I will now for a temporally for about the next 18 to 24 months beginning from the time I have the two reef tanks setup to handle FO. Like the skimmers and to get strips of glass to run across the back of both tanks and have lighting strips.
The ER skimmer for the 180, I will buy the one that I will have it as when a reef tank, so this skimmer for the 180 is $700+ and for the 240. Now this is another matter for since the tank will be just about completely rebuild later on when the money is together for it, I will not buy expensive skimmers for this for the skimmer that I will have later on as a reef tank will cost $1000+ and it too is a ER skimmer. I will however get a ASM skimmer, or better yet two of them to maintain the 240 as a FO system that the two ASM skimmers will be for 150 gals each and I think they are like $250 if not less. One problem im coming across in this idea is the fish inhabitants for I will not be getting any high cost fish for the time I be having them for is rather a short period of not more then two years. The idea here is so that both reef tanks not seat around empty for another two years doing nothing and being that the person who supposed to been doing these tanks had refused to call when he would finish the job, I now have to get money together to pay another lfs to do these tanks and they will however be better then what jeff of fish world was doing. Here are some thoughts to what I put in the tanks: Red Sea sailfin tang lime green wrasse Golden phase (Arothron meleagris) Odonus niger Red Sea Bird Wrasse Harlequin Tuskfish The thing is, I not believe it be a good idea to get any larger aggressive species and being that I not keep them for long, I not spend anything more the $150 a fish. So what ideas can one offer on this slight little problem? Buddy ><{{{{"> |

WELCOME TO REEFLAND!
I'm glad you decided to post here. I hope you will feel like posting again in the future. Your writing is sometimes hard to understand, but if I am correct, you want some temporary fishes for your aquarium while it is being built up. I can appreciate the time it takes for completing an aquarium system. My current one took 2 years to complete. It didn't occur to me to put fish in the system while it was being built or finished, only for the sake of the fish's well being. As your system is coming together, with marine fish in the tank and the ongoing changes, the tank will not mature during this time (see: The Mature Aquarium). These transitions in the tank water and environment is stressful to the fish in many ways. See: Stress (and the Single Marine Fish) For the above reasons I would not stock the aquarium with marine fish until the system and equipment is all there and running. I would also not like to think of disposing fish when new or other fish are wanted. But that is because I think of my fish as pets -- lifeforms I invite to live permanently in the environment I provide, which is the best environment I can provide. Having said this, the fish that tolerate changes in environment are those we call the hardy fishes. In marine books they would be listed as 'hardy' or 'easy' or 'easy to care for' fishes. Good luck with your project!

The only thing was, I had the wrong person to do these tanks who took the money and not done the job as he should and it wasn't too long ago that I located some new lfs which had opened around the area in the last year and now I not need to deal with this Jeff person from fish world. For yes, I paid him the little more then $15K for the 240 to be setup as in the way I wanted it and he was doing it in any way cheaper and now I will pay somebody else to do this job and have the tanks in the type of setup as I wanted it too be. For you do understand when I say that I wanted a fuge on the 240 gal reef tank? Jeff after he puts in a tank for a sump after I told him I wanted a all custom build sump too also have a fuge, he said that I couldn't do this. So after I had been waiting and paying and planning for more then five years now, I figured that it will now take me another two years at most to if not 2.5 years to get up the extra money that I will need to do this tank. In which I figured that I might as well then not leave the tanks empty for all that time and only do not so expensive fish and few of in which I be keeping for when I do them as reef tanks. For not forget, the 240 gal tank will be completely rebuild that only the 240 gal tank and canopy with the chiller will be staying that the stand it self will be replaced as well. And one other slight thing, the tanks will however be both emptied of water on the rebuilding and start over again in their cycle for I also plans to dump the 40 gal breeder later as well and setup a newer tank there with a 65 gal tank which will be the new temporally QT which after will be a reef tank itself. As for the idea of not doing anything for another two or more years after the time I waited in this was not my idea to done so for the reef tanks were supposed to been setup more then 18 months ago, just never was completed in the way I wanted them for they are both up and running with much LR for many months now which is why I figure I do a number of fish in both. I will later buy the type of skimmer which I wanted for the 240 and being that under the 240 gal stand that there be a height of not more then 24", the skimmers need to be less then 24" tall to fit under this stand which is why I need two skimmers for it. I'm sorry you are having so much difficulty with the setup. There are disreputable people in this hobby just like any other hobby. I admire your patience.

As for having as much patience in the hobby Lee, I've been in this hobby since the time of being eight years old, more then sixty years ago. Just one thing I not had done which was SPS corals with clams and I will do this soon enough if it be the last thing I was ever to do.
