Well to be honest I am not sure I now have foam/bubbles going into the collection cup but they are very watery is this how they should be my tank is only 3 weeks old so maybe there isn,t much work for it to do yet no fish in it just live rock and 0ne snail, if I turn the skimmer down any lower I get no flow into the cup

Adjust it down just a bit. You do not want wet foam going into the collection cup, so if you adjust it down you will begin to get a dryer, nastier foam collecting and this is what you want. The skimmer will not collect waste as soon as you plug it up, it will take it a little bit to really start performing. Don't over adjust it to try to get it to collect something.

Thank you the moment I can only get wet bubbles out the top which then flow into the cup or just a lot of foam forming in the chamber but no going far enough up the chamber to flow into the cup I have left at at the latter setting and will wait and see if it starts to form a dryer foam
