Got the Lil Bugger (mantis shrimp)
Found this bugger in my fish tank today must have coem in with the new live rock. We just removed the rock squirted some fresh water down the hole and grabbed him with a pair of kitchen tongs.

How did you determine you had it?

my son saw it come out from the rock to grab a small banded shrimp (he is facinated by the tank) and has been watching it for an hour or 2 each day and it doesnt have any fish yet even
he proceeded to ask me what the big cochroach looking thing was..after showing him a few pics of the mantis shrimp on the net he confirmed my suspicions |

It's too bad you're in Australia... I've been trying to get one of them for the longest time for my 10-gallon acrylic! Have fun with 'em!

just so ya know, those guys have been known to crack glass. Don't reach your hand in there! LOL. they are very intelligent, some say they have ritual fightings, don't you dare flush him! Give or sell him to someone who can care for him if you decide he's not for you. PS, if you keep him, perhaps a small acrylic tank would be a good idea.
