Fat Bellied Clown
Hello Everyone,
I have noticed that the stomach area of my Clown has gotten a little large. As of this morning he/she was swimming actively and was eating fine. I am wondering if this is something that should be cause for concern. Thank, CaptK |

Is that the only Clown in your tank?
Maybe she's pregnant? I think that Clowns have been known to breed in captivity. -Tarek |

A few weeks ago I did have two Clowns, but I lost one
They were getting along well and had been together for a while, so maybe he left behind a gift before he passed away. But maybe nature has taken its course and the newley aquired Coral Beauty that I have, that sleeps together with the Clown, have....well you know....... |

How much have you been feeding your clown? I've noticed with mine he gets rather bloated after I feed the tank, mainly because I've noticed he doesn't know when to stop eating. He'd eat until he popped if I let him. I would go a day or so without feeding and see if his belly-area comes down in size. If so, he's probably just really well fed. If you have a lot of natrual food in your tank, your clown may be over-eating.
Or perhapes the belly of you clown is full of small face-eating shrimp. ![]() |
