Angel Fish ID

Could you ID this angel? One of my customers wants to know if is reef safe. It looks like it is from the Chaetodontoplus genus to me.

Regards,
Kevin

To me it has the closest resemblance to Apolemichthys xanthurus. Taxonomy, however, isn't my forte'.

I agree with Lee- definately Apolemichthys xanthurus. Commonly called the Indian Yellowtail Angelfish and Cream Angelfish! Fenner gives it a positive review, but not an all-out endorsement. A beautiful fish- how's it doing?

They have had the fish for a few months but from the reviews I've read it may nip at corals and clam mantles. It is also reported to be aggressive to newcomers, especially small community type fish.

Regards,
Kevin

You've got it pretty accurate. Most of these fish have an 'attitude' which doesn't easily tolerate other Angelfishes and any new fish coming into the aquarium. These are best added last. It is not particularly delicately marked, but this Angelfish is no angel!
