I'm not to sure about the butterfly, but for a tang, its a little to small.

No tang James.

Many Butterflyfishes do grow large, but they tend to grow slowly. So for a while, a single young Butterflyfish would be okay. Maybe one of the 'thin' kind rather than the bulky kind. Thins include Pearlscale, Auriga, Punctato, etc.

What`re the tank is a 50 or 60, for it not would support well enough, or long enough in keeping any butterfly fish for they need a larger open tank and excellent water conditions and thirdly, a healthy diet.
