Hey, I know its me again with another beginner question.Lol sorry to keep bothering you guys. While my 75 is cycling i figure I'd start planning my stocklist. I have a Fluval 405, 10 lbs live rock(will be getting about 40 lbs more), and i will purchase a skimmer before any fish are added.I have an idea of the fish i want, and if i could get an example of what to stock from this list it would be greatly appreciated.
1 foxface or onespot rabbit fish 1 porcupine pufferfish 1 dwarf lionfish 1 snowflake moray eel 1 picasso or undulate trigger fish 1 pacific blue tang Any suggestions on a cleanup crew??? I know thats to much of a bio-load in one tank, but which ones could i get away with, and still have a happy community? ![]() |

I'll save someone the trouble of mentioning that any of the tangs really don't do well in anything less than 180 - they simply need that much room to roam around.

Re: Stocking tips/suggestions for 75
Subtracting the Tangs from the list, you may note that most the fishes are those that grow large. The Triggerfish will top at about 10 inches; the Porcupine Pufferfish will get at or over 12 inches; and the Foxface will grow quickly up to its sub-adult size of about 8 inches. These fishes, even one of them is not the best choice for the 75, or, if you do, you'll a larger aquarium within a year.
If you want to keep big fishes, you need a big system. Some of the above fishes will do fine as juveniles but as mentioned, you'd be faced with getting a larger system to accommodate their growth. If you shorten your list to just one of the above large fishes acquired as a juvenile (large enough so the Lionfish won't eat it), and the Dwarf Lionfish and Eel, that may work out, until the Snowflake Eel gets to be over 30 inches long.

Re: Stocking tips/suggestions for 75
What sort of community are you looking to set up? A relatively peaceful one, or an aggressive tank? Aggressive tanks are usually bigger, with less specimens. A 75 will limit which which aggressive specimens you can add, b/c a lot of them get large as adults. On the flip side, a 75 will have many more stocking options for a more peaceful tank.
