What are the little white spots on the glass? they seem to have a star like shape to them, tank has only two damsels in it now, tank is about 2 months old. live rock and skimmer are running with a wet dry filter, all levels are good. I guess the main thing is are these things good or bad? TIA And just a note to everyone on here, I think I have gotten more knowledge and information from here on this site, than the two previous books I read.

It's hard to say what it is you're looking at, without a clear photo of them. You don't mention their size, and that is another handicap in trying to determine what they might be.

Much of the live rock comes through the system with very small crustacean-like creatures. I have seen these cover the sidewalls of an aquarium. They are stuck pretty hard to the wall -- it takes scraping to get them off. They show up fairly early on in the development of a new aquarium and although they may never totally go away, they will reduce in numbers. These that I'm referring to are not harmful nor should they be a concern, except that they mess up the view!

On the other hand it could be Coralline or some other sea life -- even mini starfish.

The spots are about the size of a small nail head and are at the substrate line in the tank, they do look like very small star fish. I just didnt think they would be that small, there is about 40 of them. When you are new to something as involved as this is everytime you see something new you freak out . thanks for the reply, if anything else comes up rest asured that I will be asking.
