tank capacity??

Hi All,

I have been trying to work out the number of fish i can have in my tank, do people "really" use the 1 inch per gallon equation?

the seems very little? i have a 103gallon tank? is that really meaning i can have 20 inch of fish?

i have a voltan lion fish so thats pretty much all i can have? this seems odd?

any advice would be good.

If you want to know more about my tank i have a 3 foot trickle sump, lots of live rock and a venturi skimmer (not sure of brand).

the inch per gallon rule is very out dated thats about all i can say i cant go in to it any more than that realy but leebca should be able to help you more.

ok thanks, i was hoping for that kinda information as i had big plans on having more then one fish in a 5 foot tank lol.

Tank capacity is best determined based upon the capacity of the system to handle the bio-load AND the space required by the fish. If you want an analysis of your particular system, go here and reply with the answers in the 'form.'
