Brittle Star Dangerous?

Do brittle stars (if large enough) eat small bottom dwelling fish like gobies?

Mine has not bothered my gobies but I think he ate one of my camel shrimp once. I thought they were mostly scavengers eating carnage? I guess if the opportunity presents itself right?

Funny thing happened last night...he reached one of him arms into my pistol shrimp's tunnel and right away I hear the little dude click click clicking away. Seems like he got a nice pinch on the brittle cause he yanked his arm out so fast! But what do I see 5 minutes later? He's sticking his arm back in again! I hear the clicks again but this time the brittle star got what he was looking for..a big peice of squid! I bet the pistol was saving that for desert!

Re: Brittle Star Dangerous?

Some Brittle Stars attack and eat marine fish. If you're concerned about the one you have, find out its proper scientific name and ask this question, posting in the Reef Aquariums Forum.
