    New Lighting!!!!

I've had my 29 g set up for nine months now and have been running a regular flourescent. I got my new light and plugged it up today. It's a 30" dual satellite w/lunar. WOW!!! I can't believe the difference. The colors in my coralline just pop to life. I feel like a kid in a candy store. The only thing I'm not sure of is how to alternate the different type of lighting or if it's even necessary. I sure would appreciate a little insight. I don't have any corals in my setup just fish and a few inverts.

    Re: New Lighting!!!!

Lighting for a fish only with live rock aquarium is pretty much up to taste. You want enough light to grow Coralline algae, which your previous lighting must have been doing. You want enough and the proper lighting to highlight the colors in your fishes when they are being shown or while you just sit and watch!

I try to marginally simulate the sun in my aquariums. I put on the Actinics for most of the viewing day and the higher rated 10K PCs for a 'noonish' affect for a few hours each day. So my lights go from Actinic to Actinic plus 10K (4 hours 10 to 2 p.m.) to Actinic and finally moon lights for the night.
