Can someone here try to sway my decision on whether i should do a reef tank with passive fish or a fish-only tank with aggressive fish. I would rather do a reef tank but everyone is telling me its way to hard, im pretty lazy but i know what it takes to take care of a tank, but i just dont know how much work reed tanks are. I have done sooo much reading and stuff but i am starting to think maybe i should just do live rock and aggressive fish, much easier. Can as many people give me their opinions.

Re: Need Help!
I guess that depends on your own personnal preference, but nothin beats a nice reef tank. I have had a FOWLR setup for about five years, and all of a sudden got the itch for the reef. I'm in the process of converting over now (upgrade lighting and such), more expensive to do it this way. Plan your decision carefully
, for it will save you money in the long run. If you do decide to go with the FOWLR, rest assured you to will more than likely get the itch. Best of luck on your decision, and keep us posted.

Re: Need Help!
I'm not sure what you mean by more work
I have a reef tank and I don't think I'm doing more than a FOWLR aquarist. Other than a few tests every week and twice a month water change, I'm not doing all that much. Oh maybe the occasional coral feeding?? That's all I can think of... ![]()

Re: Need Help!
A bit more $ for the reef upkeep, but the only difference is what kinds of fishes you want to keep.

Re: Need Help!
That's it! I forgot about the $$. How could I forget, we'll be living in a cardboard box and eating tomato soup sandwiches soon but at least I still have my tank!
![]() But seriously, Like Lee says, you have to find compatible fish, lots of them will munch on your corals. Also better lighting is required.
