75 gallon Bio Load Units

I have a 75 gallon tank. I have about 100lbs of live rock, 1 eheim classic, 1 emperor 400 hang on filter, and 1 marineland hang on. i have a remora protein skimmer. I was wondering how many bio load units i could hold with this type of filtration, lr amount and tank size. the sand bed is about 4 inches deep

Re: 75 gallon Bio Load Units

Based on the information provided, the system is about 14 bioload units.

Re: 75 gallon Bio Load Units

It is a determinable measure of either bio load capacity of a system or the bio load put onto the system. Strictly of my own device.

When you know the load limit of a system, you know what marine life that system can comfortably support. Each marine life carries a bio load 'impact' on the system.

A poor bio load unit of the past is:
Capacity load is the number of gallons of the aquarium divided by 5 (or 10)
The bio load impact of each fish is one inch.

So to poorly calculate how much bio load your system could hold would be to divide 75 by 5 = 15

And to poorly match that with how much fish can be added, would be to to say that one inch of fish is one bio load unit. So the 75 could hold 15 inches of fish. But we know this is not true if the fish are large (large mass) or very thin (small mass).
