Dory follows nemo for real???
Can anyone tell me why a blue hippo would follow a occ clown. My blue hippo is about 1 1/2 inches and the clown is about 2 1/2 inches. Dory swims all around, against and behind my larger clown. The only time she leaves its side is to feed and maybe take a 15 second lap around the tank. She does sleep alone, but other than that she is like a lost little fish, or thinks she is a clown. Anyone know why?

Welcome to Reefland!
I think I read somewhere that hippos school as juveniles, maybe Dory is attempting to school with your clown. Go figure with fish behavior. I have a clown that has decided her engineer gobi tankmate is in fact, a funky looking anemone. It's very entertaining to watch her feed him, and chase the dottyback tankmate away from her "anemone". Re: Dory follows nemo for real???
Fish behavior in the captive life is a whole (interesting) aspect of this hobby. We know many things about their behavior in the wild but quite little; we observe a lot about their captive behavior, but don't have all the answers.
Much has to do with personality, in my opinion. If the two fish feel 'comfortable' in each other's company, then that's all it takes. The same goes for trying to explain negative behavior. Why my Clown Tang chases my Convict Tang around the tank and yet leaves a Rabbitfish and four other Tangs totally alone is beyond me. Why my Powder Blue and Powder Brown, both the same size in the same tank, don't notice each other is a mystery. Why does my my Kleinii, picked on so often by the Burgess, run to the Burgess when another fish picks on it is beyond my understanding. There is much to this world then we have yet to guess.
