Useless Goby

A few weeks ago a bought a goby from my LFs for my 75g FOwler tank that was labeled as "Assorted Gobies". I paid around 45$ for him at 3-4" and now after around 3-4 weeks he has done absolutely no sandsifting. From what it looks like to me i think he is a diamond goby. All he does is stay in one corner of the tank behind some LR and never ever comes out. I didnt even see him feeding for the first week until i got a turkey baster and would shoot some brine shrimp, blood worms, or mysis behind it and he would eat it. Is there anything i can do to get him to sift sand, or at least be a little more social. Also is it a bad idea to add another sand sifting goby to the tank, such as a blue cheek or another diamond or would they end up fighting?

Re: Useless Goby

Are you certain it is even a sand sifting goby? If it isn't I don't think you're going to be able to make it sift any sand. Posting a picture and trying to get a species identification might help you figure out what to expect from it. My two gobies only do two things, and those things are eat and hide.

Re: Useless Goby

In general, the quarantine process is particularly beneficial to most Gobies. Obviously it is a time to verify they are healthy, but it is also a chance for them to be trained on what to eat and to get settled with their owner. This step was skipped with yours.

We need to know what kind of Goby it is, as Clay12340 posted. Can't answer either of your questions until we know for sure the kind of Goby you have.
